Scope

As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of transforming how we use data across the company. You’ll design and build high-impact data pipelines that power real-time decisions, deep analytics, and machine learning - putting clean, reliable data in the hands of those who need it most. You'll partner closely with analysts, engineers, and business leaders to shape the future of our data platform. You’ll partner closely with business stakeholders and our executive leadership team to make a visible impact - from modernizing legacy systems to building scalable infrastructure in the cloud. Our environment is Azure-based, so experience with tools like Azure Synapse, Data Factory, and related technologies is required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, clean, and transform raw data into structured, usable formats.

  • Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and business users to understand data needs and deliver appropriate data solutions.

  • Build and maintain data models that support self-service analytics and reporting.

  • Support the modernization of legacy data infrastructure into a cloud-first architecture.

  • Monitor pipeline performance and troubleshoot data issues to ensure data quality and availability.

  • Contribute to data architecture design and documentation alongside senior engineering leaders.

  • Help define and enforce best practices for data engineering, including testing, deployment, and documentation standards.

  • Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing to raise the technical bar across the team.

  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and recommend improvements or new technologies when appropriate.

  • Follow data governance standards to ensure data accuracy, privacy, and compliance.

Skills

  • Strong experience with cloud-based data engineering tools and platforms, especially in Azure (Synapse, Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, etc.) and DBT.

  • Proficiency in SQL and one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, nodeJS).

  • Experience building and maintaining production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines.

  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling.

  • Familiarity with orchestration tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Airflow).

  • Experience with version control, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code practices.

  • Ability to analyze large datasets and solve performance and scalability challenges.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.

  • Prior experience working in insurance or financial services is a plus.

  • Experience in high-growth or startup environments is a plus.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or data-intensive software development.

  • Experience working in cloud-native data environments (preferably Azure).
